The 10 Best Baby Bottles to Buy 2023

Posted by Kristen Bickel on

It amazes me how many options there are for different items we need for our babies. But on the other hand, I guess I’m not surprised at all. Once you have a baby and compare your baby to your friend's babies and then to any other babies you end up having, you realize how different and unique they each are. So even though a baby bottle seems like it'd be pretty standard, babies each have their own needs and are pickier than you'd think! We've rounded up the top 10 baby bottles to buy in 2023 so you can see our top picks.

We've narrowed the top ten down and sorted them into the following five categories.

Best Baby Bottles for:

  • Breastfed Babies
  • Reducing Colic
  • Low Maintenance and Easy Cleaning
  • The Environment
  • Staying Within a Budget

These categories will help you determine which bottle is best based on your baby’s individual needs as well as any extra benefits you might be looking for.

Here are the 10 best bottles to buy in 2023 recommended by The Baby’s Brew:

Best Baby Bottles for Breastfed Babies

Naturally you see the word "breastfed" and think, but why would they need a bottle? But if you've breastfed before, and done it for an extended period of time, then you know that pumping is usually part of the process, too. In order to have even a part-time job where you're away from your baby or have an overnight date night with your significant other, you'll need someone to give your baby a bottle of your breastfed milk. And one of the hardest things about transitioning a baby from breast to bottle is the real phenomenon of “nipple confusion.”

Ultimately, breastfeeding moms are going to want to look for a bottle that mimics breastfeeding in order to cut down on the possibility of this happening. You want to be confident your baby will take the bottle! We recently made a list of all of our baby bottles for breastfed babies in this article. Here are our top 2.

Comotomo Baby Bottle

Comotomo Bottle

This Comotomo baby bottle has been coined, "Breastfeeding in a Bottle." As a breastfeeding mom, you're looking for a bottle that your baby will take easily. This silicone-made one with a wide mouth and naturally shaped nipple fits the bill by looking and feeling similar to a real breast. This increases the likelihood that your baby will happily transition between breast and bottle.

Mam

Mam bottles are a favorite with many parents. The flat elongated nipple shape feels just like mom so parents and newborns can easily switch between breastfeeding and bottle feeding. The anti-colic vented base design releases liquid slowly, reducing colic symptoms in 80% of babies by eliminating bubbles that cause gas and aggravate colic & reflux. The only complaint about this bottle is the number of parts, but it is a well liked bottle by babies.

Nanobebe Baby Bottle

Nanobebe Baby Bottle

The Nanobebe bottles are not only shaped to mimic a real breast, but they also were specially designed to protect precious breastmilk nutrients. Because of its unique shape, the bottle cools quickly in the fridge which reduces bacterial growth. It also warms 2-3 times more quickly than regular bottles do. The other cool thing about these innovative baby bottles is that they can be stacked together in the fridge. Add on the Nanobebe adapter and you’re then able to directly pump into your Nanobebe bottles – all set to give to your baby when it’s time to eat.

Honorable Mention: The New Nanobebe Flexy bottle. Nanobebe came out with a new silicone bottle in 2021 and its had great reviews so far!

Best Colic-Reducing Baby Bottles

Colic is defined as crying for more than three hours per day, three days per week, for more than three weeks. And according to parents.com, up to 25 percent of babies will develop it during the young newborn stage. Seeing your baby with colic symptoms can be heart-wrenching. You know they are uncomfortable, but you also know they need to eat. It can be a helpless feeling as a parent. Luckily, these two anti-colic bottles will help your baby be happy, comfortable and well-fed.

Dr. Brown's Natural Flow Original Bottle

Dr. Brown's Natural Flow Original Bottle

These Dr. Brown bottles are equipped with a patented vacuum-free, internal vent-system specifically designed to reduce colic, spit-up, burping, and gas. It ensures your baby is swallowing milk instead of air. When it is used in conjunction with the controlled silicone nipple, babies can feed at a comfortable pace, so they don't overdo it. These bottles are a perfect choice for newborns and are also great to use in tandem with breastfeeding. As your baby grows out of their colic, the internal vent system can easily be removed if it’s no longer needed.

Tommee Tippee Advance Anti-Colic Bottle

Tommee Tippee Advance Anti-Colic Bottle

This bottle was designed with colicky babies in mind. With a unique anti-colic venting system, air is pulled away from the milk, ensuring that your baby isn't drinking extra air. It also has an anti-colic nipple equipped with a flexible and natural stretch. This ensures your little one can get a good latch. Another neat feature of this bottle design is the venting tube’s heat-sensing strip that will turn pink if your baby’s milk is too hot. (We also recommend using The Baby’s Brew portable bottle warmer to ensure your baby’s milk is never too hot to begin with!)

In addition to using an anti-colic bottle, we also recommend checking out this list of formulas to see our best recommendations for babies with sensitive tummies.

Best Low Maintenance Baby Bottles

Being a mom is incredibly hard work. And sometimes the most mundane tasks can take forever. Just doing your own dishes takes time away from other things you’d rather be doing, and bottles with all those parts makes it feel like you’re doing dishes all day long. So anything that can simplify our lives…we're on it, right?! Luckily these bottles will cut down on your cleaning time and thank goodness for that!

Baby Brezza Natural Baby Bottle

Baby Brezza Natural Baby Bottle

Baby Brezza bottles are incredibly simple to clean. Whereas most baby bottles have 3- 5 parts to keep track of and sterilize, the Baby Brezza only has 2! Not only that, but it also has an ultra-wide design meaning you don't need a cumbersome bottle brush to clean it. This may not seem that significant, but when you’re feeding your baby 8 – 12 times per day, that washing time really adds up. According to  the website, this will save moms up to 10 hours per year in cleaning and assembly!

Avent Natural Baby Bottle

Avent Natural Baby Bottle

If you're looking for an anti-colic bottle that doesn't have all of the extra small parts inside to keep track of, the Avent Natural Baby Bottle is a great choice. Instead of an internal venting system to aid in digestion, it utilizes an anti-colic valve built within the nipple to vent air into the bottle and away from your baby's tummy. Few parts make for easy cleaning and assembly. One mom left a review on the website stating, “I love them! They didn’t have 100 pieces like other bottles which was my favorite part!” A little exaggerated, but you get the point!

Pro Tip: While we're on the topic of making your life as a mom simpler...it's time to try the Baby's Brew portable battery-operated bottle warmer. It will safely warm your baby's milk on the go, preserve breastmilk nutrients, and save you a lot of headaches trying to figure out how to warm your baby's milk while you’re out living life.Formula-feeding parents will also love the option to have a detachable, mess-free formula dispenser.

Best Environmentally Friendly Baby Bottles

Even though your baby doesn't care yet about the environment, you do. Many moms are searching for a long-lasting bottle that they don't have to keep replacing. The following two baby bottles are ones that will keep looking as good as the day you purchased them. You’ll feel good about reusing them while reducing your carbon footprint. They maintain they’re life so well that you’ll be looking forward to the day when you can pass them onto a friend or sister to use with their babies.

Lifefactory Baby Bottle

Lifefactory Baby BottleLifefactory's mission is to make single-use items a thing of the past. And even though baby bottles are rarely used one time, many of them start looking dingy and scratched up after one baby. This often leads moms to throw them out and replace them with new ones for the next baby. Lifefactory ensures that these beautifully designed, glass baby bottles are built to last. They even come with a colorful silicone sleeve of your choice to help your baby grip the bottle as well as keep the bottle from shattering. (Though this isn’t likely even without the sleeve since the baby bottles are made from super durable and heat resistant Borosilicate glass.)

Pura Stainless Steel Baby Bottle

Pura Stainless Steel Baby Bottle

If you prefer something lighter in weight than a glass bottle, we recommend Pura as another environmentally friendly baby bottle. With the bottle portion made from stainless steel combined with a silicone nipple and sleeve, the Pura is one of the only bottles that's 100% plastic-free. They are made with 100% safe ingredients both for your baby and for a sustainable future. They even have an insulated version to keep your baby’s milk the temperature they prefer.

Best Budget Friendly Baby Bottles

Let's be real. Taking care of babies isn't cheap! But you still want the best for your baby without spending an arm and a leg. Looking beyond the “designer” choices will help keep bottle costs lower and honestly, lots of babies just don’t need the fancy schmancy stuff. If your baby isn’t colicky, or just isn’t picky, these are excellent options. It's also smart to buy your baby's bottles in packs of 3 or 6. This will cut the cost down. Here are two great bottle options for moms looking for extra value!

Medela Breastmilk Bottles

Medela Breastmilk Bottles

If you are (or plan to be) a breastfeeding mom, then you are likely pumping with a Medela breast pump. This means you may already have a set of Medela breastmilk bottles. If you already have these, there is really no reason to go out and buy different bottles. These Medela ones are sturdy and can easily double as breastmilk storage, too. Even if you aren't a breastfeeding mom, or don’t use a Medela pump, a package of these Medela bottles can be a good, economical choice.

Honorable Mention: Evenflo Classic Glass Bottles

Evenflo Classic Glass Bottles

Not only is a package of these bottles sold at an excellent price, but they're also made from sustainable glass. This means that these will continue to look pristine and hold up for any siblings that come along in the future. Being able to reuse bottles is not only great for the environment, but cost-effective, too. Another nice extra about these glass bottles are the molded measurements on the sides that will never rub off. And when you’re finished with the bottles? These ones are easily recyclable.

Deciding on the Perfect Baby Bottle in 2023

We’ve given you our two best bottles in each category and we feel confident that you will find one that you feel proud using with your baby. Since so much of your baby’s young life revolves around eating, you want them to have a happy and comfortable experience. It’s important to realize that baby bottles really aren’t one size fits all, and if you find that one isn’t working for your little one, it’s ok to make a switch and buy something different! It’s much better to figure out what works best early on so you can create the best feeding experience possible for both you and your baby.

 Baby Bottle FAQ

Q:When do babies hold their own bottles?

A: Babies are usually ready to hold their own bottle anywhere from 6-9 months old. Some babies could start holding their bottle earlier. Every baby is different and it could take up to the 9th or 10th month to start holding their own bottle.

Q:How to sterilize baby bottles?

A: There are multiple ways to sterilize a baby bottle, one way is to boil the bottle, nipple and any loose parts in a pot of boiling water for 5 minutes. There are also bottle sterilizers that work by using steam to sterilize the bottle in 5-10 minutes.

Q:How to wean baby off bottle?

A: It’s a good idea to slowly swap out bottles in place of cups. You might start very slow and change out 2-3 bottles a week for cups instead of cutting bottles out cold turkey. The midday bottles are easier to wean off of at first. Then morning and evening bottles. Most experts agree that taking away the bedtime bottle is the most challenging for parents and babies.

Q:When to introduce bottle to breastfed baby?

A: Most experts agree that waiting until your baby is 3-4 weeks is the best time to introduce a bottle, also after a healthy breast milk volume has been established if you wish to continue with breastmilk.

Q:How to bottle feed a baby?

A: When bottle feeding a baby it is important to feed the baby at an angle so that way the baby only gets the liquid as they are able to suck. It is important to let the baby take breaks when needed or when they seem like they are full even if they have not finished the entire bottle.

Q:How many baby bottles do i need?

A: A new parent will need anywhere from 4-12 bottles depending on the method of feeding they choose. It is advised to have about 4 to start with depending on if a baby is breastfed, formula fed, or combination. If a bottle is planned to be used as the only method of feeding then a parent will more than likely need 8-12 bottles to start off before the baby is born.
